Our Pastor

 

Bishop Ira Combs, Jr., D.D. is the founder of Greater Bible Way Temple and has served as the senior pastor for over 38 years. He was elevated to the office of Bishop with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc., (P.A.W.) in 2010, has served as a member of the Northern District Council for over 30 years, and currently serves as Diocesan Bishop for the 5th Episcopal District – Michigan/Canada.

He is the founder and Executive Director of Christ Centered Homes, Inc., a nonprofit that provides residential services and community housing for persons with intellectual disabilities. He is also the president and chairman of IRCO Housing Development, Inc., which provides affordable housing in Jackson, Michigan.

Combs currently serves on various community, academic and State boards including American 1 Credit Union, the Spring Arbor University Board of Trustees, the Michigan Department of Human Services Adult Foster Care Licensing Advisory Council, and the Aenon Bible College Board of Directors. He served as a member of the State Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board, the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board, the Board of Directors for Choices for Children, the Great Lakes Educational Program, and the Jackson-Hillsdale Community Mental Health Committee.

He was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as the Director of Faith-Based Initiatives for the State of Michigan, where he served for eight years.

Combs studied business marketing at Michigan State University from 1976-79, then matriculated from Indiana Bible College where he received a Bachelor of Theology degree. He received a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from Aenon Bible College.

Bishop Combs and his wife, Kimberly, have two children and reside in Jackson.
